Brockway Mountain Challenge

December 2019:  Our #GivingTuesday challenge was a great success! Thank you to the more than 50 people who helped us kick off this fundraising campaign and a special thanks to the generous donors who agreed to match gifts at this year's Annual Recognition Dinner and the #GivingTuesday campaign.  Because of this tremendous support, we raised over $22,000 in one month and are well-positioned to acquire an additional 42 acres on Brockway Mountain in the Keweenaw in 2020.  

Acquiring these 42 acres would protect:

• Rare species such as heart-leaved arnica and other rare plants;
• An imperiled natural community known as a 'northern bald', which is characterized by sparse vegetation and areas of exposed bedrock;
• Ideal habitat for migrating raptors and other birds; and 
• A spectacular view of Lake Superior

The addition of this property would also expand MNA/s existing sanctuaries and contiguous acreage on Brockway Mountain to nearly 600 acres!

Because of all of our wonderful donors so far, we are that much closer to raising the needed $64,000 to purchase the property in 2020--now with less than $42,000 to go!  Although the GivingTuesday challenge is over, you can still contribute to protect this special place.  Please use the links below to make your charitable contribution today and thank you for helping to protect more of Michigan's iconic Brockway Mountain!
