Location Details
Located on the east shoreline of Fish Cove in Lake Superior, Gunn Memorial is extremely difficult to get to. Access either requires a laborious hike or a boat.
The main features of the sanctuary are the rock formations. Also, Indian Head Point is a local landmark guarded by a large formation with a distinct nose looking into the bay. Many rock columns jut up to 90 feet in the air.
This land was protected through a grant from Diane Gunn in memory of her husband and son. This is a conservation easement with the fee ownership owned by the MDNR as part of the Copper Country State Forest.
